Making it right-an easy guide into becoming a switcher

I think i suck at blogging frankly speaking. And the thought of blogging doesnt suite me well either. But what the heck! Life is too short and i might as well blog myself out at least once in my life(in which now i did more than once) . Nevertheless ill tell you one thing, you have to make it right if you wanna switch to a mac. What do i mean by making it right- the right reason to buy a mac, choosing wisely the right mac that suits you, buying from the right people at the right time (you can get your mac cheaper by 200-800rm less if you know the right time to buy) and convincing yourself you made the right choice in buying!

Most people who knows mac well enough knows macs are expensive relative to windows machine. That was true -before apple made their transition to intels processor. Since their transition to intel, users became more attracted towards mac as they have the choice to run windows (ill blog out how to do this latter)if anything goes wrong that is! And because of this the prices have dropped to a more competative level against other windows machines. I myself am not that rich but i can say this, buying my mac- worth every penny spending!

Why Mac?- below are some articles i 'cilok' (grabbed in malay) from apple website. Not that im THAT lazy but these people are THAT good in their words that having the thought to write my own words seems soo not possible- haha! But Ill give my own comments at the bottom

Thinking about upgrading to Vista? Even more reasons to get a Mac.

1. No upgrade nightmares.

Before you can even think about Vista, you’ll likely need a new PC. Or upgrades for memory, hard disk, and graphics card. Why go through all that hassle, when you can just get a Mac?

-this is soo true- have you seen vista before? They cilok each and every one features in Mac OSX! So why even bothered to change for a cilok version while you can get the 'real vista'!

2. You can even run Windows.

The Mac gives you choices. With the latest software options, an Intel-powered Mac can easily run Vista or Windows XP applications. Not that you’ll want to..

- this may be the war factor to buy a mac! If you have a windows machine- you can run only windows. But if youre dare enough to risk your machine you can run a few other OSes but with a mac you can easily run windows-be it 98,2000,xp or vista and even linux! Not to say that you will use these OSes but you get what i mean...

3. It’s simpler.

No need to choose from the many (and expensive) flavors of Vista. Every Mac runs the same Mac OS X — with the full set of industry-leading features.

-oh yeah! this is soo true. Most of users would want to upgrade to vista mainly for the aero interface (equivalent to Expose' in MacOSX) but think again! not all vista comes with the aero interface! They are that many version of vista that you yourself might be loosing your head before deciding which to buy!-buy a mac and regardless which mac you choose it doesnt matter! They're all the same

4. You don’t have to buy new stuff.

Your existing printer, camera, keyboard, and mouse will work with a Mac. PCs and Macs can usually share peripherals if they connect via USB, FireWire, or Bluetooth, three industry standards available on every Mac.

-Yup no worries! Your gadgets will perfectly work well with your mac

5. Know iTunes? You know Mac.

You’ll recognize features like the library collection, playlist arrangement, and instant search in many Mac applications. So you’re something of a Mac expert already.

-yeah!mainly all the interface in mac uses this same pattern of interface in itunes. So if you have been using itunes you should know how easy it is that making a switch to MacOSX is hassle free!

6. Macs run Microsoft Office.

Microsoft Office for Mac OS X gives you Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, all with familiar features and shortcut commands. For collaborative work, Office for Mac connects to Microsoft Exchange servers.

-yup you can connect to your colleagues using windows to share files!but this relationship goes only one way though!

7. You can take it with you.

Most popular applications for Mac and PC use the same file formats, making it simple to exchange documents with friends and coworkers or move existing files from a PC to a Mac.

-yup! no problem at all exchanging file.Im the only one using a mac here!and all the other windows users are taking files that i downloaded to my computer using my torrent client software!

-a quick addition of my own- no virus for mac and for those who are gamers, you can play all windows games plus mac games on your mac!

Which mac to buy?
-
you should know by now that all of the mac runs MacOSX. You can see at the bottom of this
page the whole mac family.

MacBook- those who need to work on the move, doesnt require much graphics power to play games and doesnt cost that much.

MacBookPro- BigMac!!Big in screen area, big in graphics processing and for those with big Pockets!

iMac- this is a desktop mac. I recommend this for all those couch potato like i am! You can choose from the smallest 17" to the biggest 24"monster iMac! Suitable for those who like
to play games (ATI X1600 128 and 256 MB) and in need of large disk space (up to 250 G)

MacPro- This is for super gamers and graphic designers and big spenders!

MacMini- the most affordable mac of all!

- to know the price and specification in detailed for malaysia i highly recommend you check out www.cgcomputers.com

Where to Buy?When to Buy?
- I Highly recommend for malaysians to buy your macs at the premium apple resellers outlets
rather than buying in shops that arent.

-One shop in particular for those residing in penang is Cg computers. Man this company rocks! Besides selling macs at a reasonable price, they'll give you free mac course for beginners! (im not being paid for promoting these if any of you ever wondered)

- I strongly recommend if you're gonna switch for a mac to buy it during PCFair. Its around april and august each year. i got my ram upgraded to an extra 1G for free!

My Mac- iMac 20" , 2 gig core duo, 250 G HD, SuperDrive, 1.5 G DDR2 RAM, ATI Radeon X1600 128 Mb
- this is the mac i dragged from malaysia to moscow!

wow.

definitely very informative, you know apple should consider paying you for all the promo you do :)

i must say i would now definitely consider it, should i ever be on the survey for a new pc (which i thankfully am not for the time being, my current one being less than 6 months old - and already constantly giving me trouble, i might add)

and if nothing else, the free ram upgrade is truly tempting...
